SEISMOSHELF is a developer of the innovative technology of complete seafloor seismic exploration (Dense Seismic on the SeafloorT - DenSoST )The technology provides construction of a seamless seismic profile on the interface of land and the contiguous parts of the marine shelf. The seismic receivers are not mounted on streamers as in standard marine seismic exploration; rather the receivers are installed on the seafloor. This allows the receivers to register a much more ample wavefield. The obtained additional variety of waves can be split into two classes: • the waves related to the absence of source-receiver distance restriction: essentially refracted-, head-, and over-critically reflected wave. In standard marine seismic exploration, the waves of these types cannot be registered since the length of the streamer is fixed. • the waves induced by the use of multicomponent receivers: essentially converted waves. In standard marine seismic exploration, the waves of these types cannot be registered since only P-waves travel through the water column. |
Major problems solved with Seismoshelf's technology:• Multichannel seismic standard marine surveys with acquisition of multicomponent high-quality seismic data; reducing the geological risks during exploratory drilling. • Implementation of Multichannel seismic wide-azimuth areal marine surveys. • Multichannel seismic surveys, i.e. simultaneous registration of reflected, refracted, and converted waves on extra-long receiving lines. • Surveys in shallow waters, rivers, and transition zones; acquisition of land-to-sea seamless profiles • Surveys in the waters with developed infrastructure, active fishing operations, and complex seafloor topography. • Monitoring of producing offshore oil/gas fields. • Receiving additional geologic-geophysical information on lithological properties of the profiles, based on P- and S-wave velocity model building. |
Advantages of complete seafloor seismic exploration technology:• Ability to apply the technology in a wide range of depths including near-shore zones and shallow shelf • No specialized costly survey equipment deployment positioning vessels, underwater operations. • Ability to construct land-sea seamless profiles. • Easy adaptation to the seafloor topography including areas with underwater infrastructure. • The ability to increase the number of registration channels. A relatively low survey price due to the high level of unification and automatization. |
